Hurricane 5.9 SX Nationals 2026

What a weekend at Thorpe Bay Yacht Club for the 2026 Wetsuit Outlet Hurricane 5.9 SX National Championships.

As proud lead sponsors of this year's Nationals, we were delighted to support the Hurricane fleet for three days of close racing, big conditions and plenty of action both on and off the water.

With 25 boats making the trip to Thorpe Bay from sailing clubs across the country, the fleet was treated to everything from light airs and tricky tides to strong easterly winds and seriously challenging sea conditions.

Friday kicked off in hot, sunny conditions, with Ben Harris and Izzy Smith taking the opening race before reigning National Champions Jack Tindale and Hugo Bull hit their stride and claimed Race 2.

Saturday brought a completely different challenge. The breeze built throughout the day, the sea state became increasingly choppy and the fleet was pushed hard. Jack and Hugo continued their strong form, while Alex Farrall and Alex Warrington took two race wins. There were plenty of capsizes, retirements and gear failures along the way — a proper Hurricane day.

Sunday saw lighter conditions return, but the racing remained wide open. With everything still to play for going into the final races, Jack and Hugo held their nerve to secure the Championship title once again.

Congratulations to Jack Tindale and Hugo Bull of Stone Sailing Club on taking the 2026 National Championship, with Alex Farrall and Alex Warrington finishing second and Ben Harris and Izzy Smith taking third.

For us at Wetsuit Outlet, it's been fantastic to support an event that brings together such a competitive fleet while maintaining the friendly, family atmosphere that makes the Hurricane class so special.

A huge thank you to Thorpe Bay Yacht Club, the race team, safety crews, photographers, sponsors and, of course, every sailor who made the weekend what it was.

We're proud to have been the lead sponsor of the 2026 Hurricane 5.9 SX Nationals and look forward to seeing the fleet back on the water soon.

See you at Bridlington for the Allen Travellers Trophy finale on 19–20 September.
