Veteran reaches Antigua after 3000 miles and 63 days at sea
He’s home!
Tame the Kraken has finally arrived in the exotic waters of Antigua after more than a journey of more than 3000 miles across the Atlantic.
Solo rower Tim has battled sleep deprivation, injury and physical extremes on his extraordinary expedition across the ocean for the last 63 days.
If you haven’t been following the story, the Special Forces veteran has raced from the Canary Islands to Antigua, as part of the Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge.
The race attracts thrill-seekers and endurance athletes alike, who want to take on and beat the elements. But that's not all, the race raises money and awareness of topics close to the rower’s heart.
In Tim’s case, this was mental health.
The primary purpose of his campaign has been to raise awareness and education around mental health. He chose two charities, Combat Stress in the UK and Give an Hour in the United States. Both have the shared mission of addressing mental health and the effects of Traumatic Brain Injuries, with the ultimate aim to prevent veteran suicide.
We wish Tim a safe and happy arrival to Antigua and can’t wait to catch up with him about life on board, but not before he enjoys a couple of well-deserved coconut rums on the beach!
